This event will a panel discussion with speakers: (1) Ray Spaxman, one of False Creek South's pioneering visionaries; (2) Gil Kelley, our general manager of Planning, Urban Design and Sustainability; (3) Margot Long, respected local landscape architect; (4) Bree Galbraith, a life-long False Creek South resident. Ray was deputy director of Planning in Toronto until 1973, then director of Planning for the City of Vancouver until 1989. He has since set up his own planning consultancy advising clients on a wide variety of planning and urban design projects both locally and abroad. Gil KelleyGil Kelley is an internationally recognized urban strategist and visionary, having served as chief planner for several West Coast cities and as an independent advisor to cities and governments across the globe. He currently serves as the general manager of Planning, Urban Design, and Sustainability for the City of Vancouver. Margot LongMargot Long holds a degree in landscape architecture from the University of Oregon, and has over 35 years of experience in private practice, specializing in community and public realm projects throughout British Columbia, North America, and Asia.  She has been a partner at PWL Partnership for over 25 years. Margot has worked on some of the most sustainable projects and communities in North America, such as Dockside Green and Southeast False Creek.Bree GalbraithBree Galbraith is a life-long False Creek South resident, having grown up in False Creek Co-op, and returning with her own children as an adult. She holds a master of design degree from Emily Carr University and is also a sessional professor there. Bree is a celebrated children's book author and is currently studying creative writing at UBC. Much of her work revolves around empowerment and shared experiences – things she considers second nature with her life spent in cooperative housing... Event Details.
