Self-guided tour of the Orpheum

July 18 2017, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Self-guided tour of the Orpheum. Immerse yourself in a piece of Vancouver's history! Take a self-guided tour of the Orpheum concert hall, a national historic site. Learn about the venue's interesting history and architecture, famous visitors and performers, and how the community once came together to save the Orpheum. Tours are self-guided, with support from Vancouver Civic Theatres staff. Attendees are given one hour to wander the lobbies, staircases, and the dress circle floor of the auditorium. Attendees will not be allowed backstage or on the stage.. Tour detailsTours are available three times per day on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays starting Tuesday, June 13th. Tickets are available online or in-person at the Tickets Tonight booth located inside the Tourism Vancouver Visitor Centre. As the Orpheum is a working theatre, tours, availability and content may vary.Arrive at the Orpheum's Granville Street entrance 10 minutes prior to your scheduled tour. Latecomers will not be permitted to join a tour that has already begun.Each tour takes up to 30 people and is first-come, first-served. Phone to make a reservation. The tour involves climbing stairs.Please note:Everyone must have a ticket, no exceptions.Tickets must be booked online in advance; no on-site ticket sales.Due to the historical nature of the building, accessibility is limited.The Orpheum is a working theatre and we may need to cancel tours on occasion due to booking conflicts. In the event of a cancellation, you will be notified and provided with a full refund.About the OrpheumWorld renowned theatre architect, Marcus Priteca designed over 220 theatres in North America and the Orpheum is considered one of his finest accomplishments. The Orpheum boasts soaring lines, gold leaf, grand staircases and 145 original crystal chandeliers.The Orpheum was built as a Vaudeville Theatre and Silent Movie Palace. It still houses the "Mighty Wurlitzer Organ" which is last theatre organ in Canada still in its original home. The Orpheum is a member Vancouver Civic Theatres venue collective, which also operates the Queen Elizabeth Theatre and Plaza, Vancouver Playhouse, and ANNEX. .. Event Details.
