A community celebration The Gathering Festival All ages, Free Tom Lavin and the Powder Blues, Jim Byrnes, and others join forces at the 4th annual Gathering Festival to support Vancouver's most vulnerable and disadvantaged inner-city populations. Presented by The Gathering Place Community Centre in partnership with the Downtown South Gathering Place Community Centre Association.More details Date and time June 20 2015, 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.Add to my calendar Location Emery Barnes Park, 1170 Richards Street, at Davie Street and Seymour Street Vancouver Contact Event details The full-day community celebration opens with an Aboriginal blessing, a free pancake breakfast, an art exhibition by 50 professional and amateur artists, community information booths, and banners and flags created by local seniors.Some other activities throughout the day include:Hands on crafts and games Circus skill training and face painting Street poetry Stilt dancers Wheelchair dance Bike repairs Food And more Highlights of this year's Celebration include Tom Lavin & the Legendary Powder Blues celebrating their 37th Anniversary with two sets beginning at 6:30pm and Jim Byrnes with his iconic smoky vocals at 2:00pm. Plus, music by the Carnegie Jazz Band (Brad Muirhead, Band Leader), the powerful new grooves of Jack Garton's Demon Squadron, Tishomingo String Band's high energy new-grass, the drums of Katari Taiko, and more!.
