Theatre Replacement's Movie Group met every Tuesday for eight months to pair significant films of the New Hollywood era (the late 60s and early 70s) with the people who were most likely to have seen them during their first runs – a group of Vancouver residents aged 60 and above. The conversations that followed revealed a great deal about the collected individuals and painted a detailed portrait of then and now. Movie Group: A performative report revisits some of these discussions in front of a filmic backdrop. Created by: Candelario Andrade, Sylvia Kwong, Kathleen Laverty, James Long, Bill Murdoch, Michael Noon, Maiko Bae Yamamoto   Theatre Replacement is an ongoing collaboration between James Long and Maiko Bae Yamamoto. Their work is about a genuine attempt to coexist – questions of authorship, ownership and copyright are alive inside our examinations of found materials. Conversations, interviews and arguments collide with Yamamoto and Long's aesthetics, resulting in theatrical experiences that are authentic, immediate and hopeful. Their work has been presented at international festivals and venues, including Festival TransAmériques (Montreal), Magnetic North Theatre Festival (Ottawa & Vancouver), Free Fall Festival (Toronto), Noorderzon Festival (Groningen NL) and the PAZZ Performing Arts Festival (Oldenburg Germany)..
