Pearl

October 27 2016, 8:00 p.m. Pearl. The life of Pulitzer Prize winning author, Pearl S. Buck is one of the most fascinating and emotionally charged cross-cultural stories of the 20th Century. Now, her story is being told in a full-scale Broadway style production that takes theatre and dance and blends them together in an entirely new way.. Event detailsPearl is a major Broadway show evoking the life of Pearl S. Buck, the first woman to win a Pulitzer in 1932, who lived part of her life in China.Compete with an actual river on stage, this multimedia explosion of light, sound and movement that the Montreal Times declares is "Dance at its best…" is produced by renowned Chinese producer Angela Xiaolei Tang and directed/choreographed by Daniel Ezralow (2014 Sochi Olympic Opening Ceremonies, Cirque du Soleil's The Beatles LOVE and the Broadway smash hit Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark) whose visionary combination of state of the art projection-mapping with stunning stage visuals is creating a new theater of storytelling unlike anything else on stage today. Dance legend Margie Gillis and a cast of 25 international dancers have been hailed as "… a team of amazing artists, each more incredible than the other" (Huffington Post Quebec).  At its 2015 world premiere at Lincoln Center, the New York Times stated it best: "A WORDLESS TRIBUTE TO A MASTER OF WORDS." And its just-completed run in Montreal was greeted with raves including "Pearl presents the life of the writer in multiple stages, each revealed with fresh creativity. The video projections that accompany the dancers create various magnificent tableaus and our only regret is not being able to admire them longer." (Huffington Post Quebec).. Event Details.
