April 29 2016, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Emergency Preparedness Week launch at Telus World of Science. This year, for the first time ever, Science World and the City of Vancouver are working with local partners to host an Emergency Preparedness Week Event at Telus World of Science. This interactive event features activities and displays from local scientists, first responders, the City of Vancouver’s newly launched Disaster Support Hub initiative, and emergency preparedness agencies to help citizens get prepared for all kinds of emergencies. Participants can test their seismic construction skills on the UBC earthquake shake table, look through binoculars to see what sea level rise will look like here, talk to emergency volunteers and get involved, find out about new initiatives like the earthquake early warning system, and experience what it's like to feel an earthquake in the Insurance Bureau of Canada Shake Zone earthquake simulator!. ..
