He co-founded avant-garde architectural group Archigram in the 1960s. Often referred to as the Beatles of architecture, Archigram received the Royal Institute of British Architects Gold Medal in 2002. Cook, former Director of the Institute of the Contemporary Arts, London, is Professor Emeritus at University College London, Senior Fellow of the Royal College of Art, London, and Commandeur de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres of the French Republic. He was knighted in 2007 by the Queen for his services to architecture and teaching. Some of his projects include: the Monte Carlo Entertainments Centre; the Museum of Antiquities, Austria; the Kunsthaus, Graz, Austria; the New Theatre Verbania, Italy; and the Soheil Abedian School of Architecture, Bond University on the Gold Coast, Australia.
